My Top Ten Places to Travel to in 2025

As we speak, when I release this blog, I have nothing booked for travel in 2025. This is partly because I am applying to become a Canadian citizen, and that process has complications for travel when applying for a new passport and giving up the Permanent Residency card, but also because I don’t know where to commit yet.

These are ten places I know I want to visit. Whether I get to visit them all in 2025 is another question, but wherever I decide, I will be on this list unless something unusual pops up. Here goes.

  1. Cuba – Emma and I have been talking about visiting Cuba for a while, and it’s at the top of our list. I’m drawn to its raw, vibrant culture and rich history. I want to explore Havana, venture into the countryside, and experience life outside the resorts. While it might not happen until late in the year or early 2026 due to passport admin, I’m determined to make it happen.

  2. Australia – Having lived there before, I’ve been craving a return to Australia. I miss the hot weather, the stunning beaches, and the incredible coffee. Road-tripping through Tasmania or the West Coast is calling my name. Maybe November will be the time to make it a reality.

  3. Nicaragua – After my recent travels in Central America, Nicaragua feels like the perfect next stop. I’ve heard wonderful things about its charming towns, beautiful scenery, and affordability. Spending time there would be a great way to dive deeper into one country.

  4. Hornby Island, Canada—I’ve already fallen in love with this little gem. I want to return in the height of summer to fully enjoy its crystal-clear waters and beautiful beaches, like Tribune Bay and Whaling Bay Beach. Staying in a cabin and unwinding for a few days sounds perfect.

  5. Dallas & Austin, Texas – I’ve longed to visit Texas for its blues music scene. I plan to check out Stevie Ray Vaughan’s statue in Austin and enjoy live music in local blues bars. Combining this with an event in Dallas makes it a no-brainer.

  6. Amsterdam, Netherlands – I’ve yet to visit Amsterdam, which is shocking considering how close it is to my hometown of Norwich. I’d love to spend some days exploring the city’s canals, culture, and atmosphere. Maybe it’ll happen during a May trip to the UK.

  7. Bahamas – A friend from the Bahamas has given me countless recommendations, and it looks like paradise. The white sand beaches, clear water, and unique attractions, like swimming pigs, make it hard to resist.

  8. Thailand—I’ve been to Thailand several times, but I’m feeling the urge to return. Bangkok, with its vibrant chaos, amazing food, and unique culture, is calling me back. Spending a week living like a local in the city would be a dream come true.

  9. Turks and Caicos—I keep coming across stunning images of these islands and can’t get them out of my head. The pristine beaches and laid-back vibe make them a perfect escape.

  10. Newfoundland, Canada – This rugged and beautiful island is one of the few places in Canada I haven’t visited yet. Renting a car, road-tripping around Newfoundland, or even camping there would be an unforgettable adventure.
